Our PROJECTS

Local Drug Action Team (LDAT)

Background

In 2019, as part of the Get Connected Toormina project, we were successful in our application to form a Local Drug Action Team (LDAT). This program supports communities to work together to prevent and minimise the harm caused by alcohol and other drugs.

The Local Drug Action Team Program is funded by the Australian Government through its Alcohol and Drug Foundation.

Supporting Communities to Work Together

Raising Community Awareness

This project will raise community awareness of AOD harms and the protective factors that support young people, community members and other stakeholders at specific forums and focus groups.

Local youth workers and health professionals will include education on alcohol and drug-related protective and risk factors, as well as AOD resources, services and helplines.

Key Community Partners

The LDAT will also work with key community partners, Elders and other stakeholders (in the form of a community Working Group drawn from the forums) to develop a community assets map and action plan to inform future LDAT community action plans and the municipality plan.
