Get Connected Sporting Initiatives

Various sporting initiatives have been implemented as part of the Get Connected Toormina project. View them below.

Our Sports Projects

The RISE Football Venture

The RISE football venture has been running weekly soccer games in Graff Avenue, engaging between 25 to 30 young people each session.

The Get Connected project has been able to support RISE with purchasing equipment and uniforms for this, and also with covering fees and transport costs for young people to be registered with a local soccer club.

Whilst the main focus of this initiative is soccer, other positive outcomes include teaching young people life skills, giving young people a purpose, learning to be part of a team and supporting the community and parents to be involved.

Sawtell Cricket Club

Another initiative has seen support for Sawtell Cricket Club to run weekly sessions in Toormina – the Club will support any young person who is interested in playing competitively. The Get Connected project supported the purchase of equipment and uniforms.

Go4Fun Health Promotions

The Get Connected project has also supported Coffs Harbour Aboriginal Lands Council to run their Go4Fun health promotions program in the Toormina area through the purchase of equipment.
